Understanding AtyKids
What is AtyKids?
A web application for the adults who support a child: parents at home, professionals at work. It brings together free Resources and a Premium subscription that opens The 6 Assistants, The AtyKids Experts, ATLAS and The Studio. AtyKids is non-medical: it helps you understand, prepare and act; it never decides for you.
Who is AtyKids for?
The adult who acts. Families, and professionals who work with children: teachers, support staff, educators. See AtyKids for professionals.
Is it medical?
No. AtyKids makes no diagnosis, runs no clinical test, gives no medical opinion and replaces neither a doctor, nor a therapist, nor a teacher, nor an administration. It is a practical support for the adult.
Free and Premium
Can I use AtyKids for free?
Yes. The AtyKids Resources are open without a subscription: they are real tools, not a trial, a preview or a limited demo. They include AtyKids SAFE, Visual timer, Visual sound meter, Choice wheel, Text reader, Guides, Glossary, and more tools. See the Guides and the Glossary.
What does Premium include?
Four families: The 6 Assistants, The AtyKids Experts, ATLAS and The Studio. The free Resources stay open alongside them. Prices and terms are on the pricing page.
Is there an offer for schools or organizations?
The AtyKids subscription is for one account: each person uses their own. If you represent a company, organization, education provider or network, write to us from the contact page so we can look at an access setup suited to your context and audience.
Assistants, Experts, ATLAS and Studio
What is the difference between the Assistants and the Experts?
The 6 Assistants are for everyday situations, when the question comes up now. The Experts are for a specialized question that needs more context: Rights & procedures · Home education & learning. The Experts are not a seventh and an eighth assistant: they have no first name and no character. See the Assistants and the Experts.
What does ATLAS do?
It helps you find professionals, services, schemes and resources near you. Appearing in ATLAS is not a recommendation by AtyKids, and no position in the results can be bought. See ATLAS.
What does the Studio do?
It creates the support that is missing, in six forms: visual sequence, First / Then, checklist, choice board, routine and cue card. See the Studio.
Can a child use AtyKids alone?
The Assistants and the Experts are designed for the adult who supports the child. A child does not use them alone. The supports and Resources you prepare with AtyKids can of course be used with the child: that is the point.
Sources, limits and territory
Is every AtyKids answer sourced?
No, and that is deliberate. A source documents a fact, a rule, a scheme or a figure that needs an outside authority. A practical pointer (preparing a transition, wording an observation) does not need a fabricated citation. Citing a source never means the institution endorses AtyKids. See Method & references.
Can an AtyKids response be imperfect?
Yes. A response can misread a situation or miss an important detail. Check anything binding (a date, an amount, a deadline or an obligation), open the source when one is offered, and ask a professional when the situation calls for it. See the Trust center.
Does AtyKids work in my country?
Language and jurisdiction are two different things: reading in English does not decide which country's rules apply. Some information depends on a country, a state or a province, and it is labeled as such.
Access and support
Who do I contact if I have a problem?
Human customer support handles the service: account, sign-in, subscription, payment, access, installation and technical issues. It is not for educational, medical, legal or emergency requests. Pick your channel on the contact page.
Can I adjust the display to how I read?
Yes. Theme, light or dark mode, the Luciole reading font, text size, line spacing, letter and word spacing, and animations can all be adjusted, and your choice is remembered. See Accessibility.
Can't find your question?
The contact page shows which channel matches which request.
